The Fast Timer can be used in many other experiments
This kit provides a direct method to measure the speed of sound. Timing to microsecond accuracy is started and stopped as sound passes the microphones see the experimental diagram. A small hammer and metal plate is included in the kit to make the necessary sharp sound. The Fast Timer, when used with mechanical start/stop gates, has many other applications e.g. in the measurement of g by free-fall.
